PURCHASING
o The classics never tire, especially black.
o Buy within the season to match, especially white.
ALTERING
o Altering knits is generally more expensive than fabric items.
o Save the trim for repair.
WEARING
o Knitwear is excellent for traveling, comfortable & wrinkle free.
STORING
o Always put away clean at the end of the wearing season.
o Use padded hangers on blazers & blouses unless shoulder pads.
o Never store in a plastic bag. Neither a vinyl store bag or a cleaner bag. Vinyl bags are great for traveling.
o Store in a breathable bag to protect from insect damage.
o Hang to dry before placing in a closet to prevent mildew growth.
Packing/Traveling
o Knit garments package well.
o Package blazers in a wardrobe bag (one to a poly).
o Okay to fold slacks, sweaters and shells.
o Hang up as soon as you check in.
o Never entrust an unproven cleaner with your fine knits.
CLEANING
o Ask to be blocked with each cleaning.
o Only let a specialty cleaner handle the embellished pieces.
BLOCKING
o Okay to increase a size or reduce a half size.
REPAIR & RESTORING
o Solid whites can be brightened.
o Mending & re-knitting, darker pieces mend well.
